ART IS LOVE CHAPTER II PRINT 1
Exclusive Limited Edition Giclée Fine Art Print
On 8TH October 1993 at 6.30 pm at the Cour Carrée du Louvre Paris, John Galliano presented his Spring Summer 1994 collection cementing his reputation as fashions premiere storyteller and one of my earliest inspirations.
This show, in particular, tells the story of the Russian Princess Lucretia's escape from her moonlit palace. Chased by howling wolves through the snow-laden forests she finds her way into the arms of her peasant lover. The show took us on a voyage inspired by Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, Jane Campion's film The Piano and the Duke of Edinburgh and highlighted Galliano's ability to weave together disparate elements from all over the globe to create a fashion fairytale all of his own. It set Mr. Galliano on a journey to become the creative force of two of Paris' most storied fashion houses and culminated in his becoming Creative Director of the avant-garde Maison Margiela. Where he continues to innovate and push the boundaries of storytelling and creativity,
His ability to weave dreams and transform beautiful girls from Croydon South London into stunning Russian Tsarinas that conquer and charm the world make it all but impossible to overstate what an influence Galliano's work and storytelling have been and continues to be on me, and many others to this day.
